I've really enjoyed these last few days getting acquainted with the students! I have slowly, but surely been able to put their names to faces and faces to names :) We've spent these last few days learning the basic characteristics of Science...and will soon get started into what this class is all about...LIFE! But first, students will be quizzed and tested over the basic "Characteristics of Science". They will be taking a bell work quiz this Friday (8/11/17) covering the material learned during bell work time at the beginning of class. That material should be found in their "Bell Work" section of their Science folder. I encourage the students to be reviewing that material regularly before the quiz on Friday. Next Tuesday (8/15/17), students will be taking a test over the basic Characteristics of Science. Again, I encourage students to study their notes for Chapter 1, sections 1 & 2, which should be located in their Unit 1 section of their folders. I also want to encourage the students to study Vocabulary using the classroom website at the following link:
http://mrbakerlifescience.weebly.com/vocabulary.html and click on the Unit 1 Vocabulary: "Characteristics of Science" Button. That is an excellent tool for students to use while developing studying habits.
This week, students will spend a little time nominating and voting on names for our classroom critters. The elected names will become our pet names for the critters throughout the remainder of the year.
The students have already been involved in various group activities, and I will be posting photos soon of the various activities that we have done in class. Feel free to view the photos by clicking the Gallery Tab on this website! I will be updating the site with new photos periodically throughout the school year. So be sure to check back.
I hope the students will find this year an exciting time for learning Science! I look forward to teaching them!
